Friday morning woke up to the sauna that was my tent and had Eddie come and wake me. Loud snoring was heard over the tent roofs as well as the moans of babelas. I decided to be quick and have a shower before the rush, even at 06:00 I had to wait but not long at least.
Dressed for success I set out to make coffee (ended up making 12 cups for 11 different people) get the load down from our bar boss Pete and have a Heineken for breakfast. After my Titanic queen woke up and showered we ordered a pizza with extra chillies while enjoying the slow morning traffic of babelas people. We decided that while we wait for No One's Arc to arrive (much later the day) we will enjoy the river. So down we went, explorer Eddie went off exploring the hills on the other side of the river while Minette and I enjoyed our Castle lights in the cool water. I first thought the water was going to be freezing turned out to be the best thing since cold Jaagmymeester. We made new friends while in the water and swam ourselves out eventually. It was really hard to drag yourself up the that massive hill after a swim of about two hours.
A quick shower and a sms from Mimi telling me they almost there we made sure to show our faces at the bar. Eddie was back from exploring and making cash. Anna Mart bought us girls a drink and we sat underneath the big shade net of the main stage enjoying a captain and coke and gossiping before she was called out again. As I sat there watching the small crowd growing by the minute a familiar little lady walked by, it was Mimi. So happy to see that they made it safely from Stellenbosch (where they had a gig the previous night). She took me to their tents location where their manager Werner was busy hammering in the tent pegs. I offered the hammer which he broke! When you meet Werner you will understand why we were so surprised he broke it. Superman Werner left to get more stuff, Bongs realised he missed packing his tent and only brought the tent ground cover with. So two tents were pitched, the ground cover was used as shade roof and Dylan set up his mattress.
At four pm I made way to the bar to see if we were busy (which wasn't) but I hang around helping one guy in the hour while I was behind the counter. At eight pm I had enough of it since the other bar opened up at the main stage and everyone was jamming to the Dirty Skirts, aKing and Jack Parow. Minette and I logged off and got our secret supply of Southern Comfort and joined Eddie and Mimi down at the river. A healthy dose of ameriCANS was present since a girl named Amy (or something) from Michigan (or something) had it on her bucket list to skinny dipp in South Africa. Cool it's dark enough...until my camera found it's little humble way out of the bag. Another swim in the river and running empty on alcohol we walked back up to the NOA suburbs. Robby found the Spur food stall, Lee had his bottle of wine being lone ranger and the rest was spread out on Dylan mattress.
Much later on we went back down to the river, had a black Jesus walking on water, got a view of some white ass and an amazing star filled sky. After I went to bed I heard other rumors of people swimming again naked...smoking some illegal trees and dozing off where they shouldn't. I missed the whole Elvis Blue show which included someone famous puking his tequila up all over the poor Idols 6 winner.
I do remember that at 2 am Andre and Kobus were trying to wake everyone up in the camp of UTC that looked like a mushroom bomb of tents exploded on the piece of land. Where I could just simply walk over to my tent I had to have the GPS to find my way. No I wasn't drunk (I think *hic*) it was just that crowed. I thought "oh goody it's 02:30 lets go take a shower" - hmf surprise-surprise that row was standing in at 7 girls waiting to shower. I skipped the shower figured I swam enough to be clean, everything will look better in the morning...
