What? What? Sharp!

By Marley

Today is not a good day, Thumbing Thursday goes along nicely with a slight headache of "Little Saturday". I did get home at a decent time () my sleep was robbed from me around when my land lords came back home and the cats decided its play time, on mom. Thus ending with me having a splitting head ache this morning.

This week I took a look back at all the gigs from the this year alone, there has been parties that are the most memorable, Op Die Maan (Innibos), Annual Castle Lager Free Concert, The No One's Arc CD launch just to mention a few. The reasons why those 3 stand out is besides the good music, cold beer and wonderful people who attended it, it was truly gigs that was a great party.

I say the Free Concert was great since mostly local talents played, our head liner is not known in Nelsparta (no surprise there) and it felt like one big party for all the friends and known people. When I look back at the photos there are fond memories of people going missing in the mist only to return two hours later claiming they passed out somewhere? Or have some MC nearly "parking" his car halfway down the hill at the back stage area. Or have your photo taken while “counting stars”
Yes it's been a year and half 2010 for the music scene here.

I feel more than ever it's alive with possibility that might just bring bigger things to this small town of Nelsparta in 2011. Not that our gigs are that dried up as yet for 2010 (I'm sure a party will be created somewhere), we are expecting some small gigs from Piksteel, Phoenix and perhaps Latte Funk. I know that NOA is going down to Cape Town once again on the 27th of December they will be performing at the Groot Gees Rock Fees @ Die Kloof and they will be down there for good while (enjoy the break as well people!) I posted a few links as well regarding NOA CD launch at Emnotweni that had happen and NOA going to Up The Creek (UTC) make sure you check it out. Also MK are having their 5de Avontoer toer with a bunch of bands including, you guessed it NOA. Links are posted to do some “light” reading…

UTC has been on my bucket list since I've heard of it and that is almost 10 years ago. So is STRAB (Mozambique) and Oppikoppi (North West). Now I can get the opportunity to go work and play at UTC in 2011. I figured that since we always moan we never get away you can always make a freaking plan. The plan is to get the “A Team” from Blue Moon bar, that includes Simi, Neil, Eddie, Anne Marie and I to actully attend the UTC, work in shifts at the bar, to party at least three hours and just enjoy it. For me it’s a tight squeeze to ask the boss off so soon after the Christmas break but I’m working this year till the 22nd of December. Not sure what I’m suppose to do in a broker office besides sitting there chasing up an internet bill and doing some studying? Anyway so I’m pretty sure the boss will give the heads up once I have my full plan laid out to him. He is very cool guy about things and he understands that between all his Kruger tours and weekends away I can properly go on a tiny holiday

If you head on over to twitter you can follow Up The Creek or on Facebook. While you at it on FB see the Blue Mooners plans to make the best float at UTC kicking some ass under photos and postings on the UTC wall. Yea baby, we got a captain and everything! Should make an interesting bar story never mind for the grand children. I'm also on twitter under My Twitter and on FB but you can figure that one out yourself.

Here is a UTC tweet of the other day that sums it all pretty much up:

#UTC is like Bob Marley meets rock 'n roll at Keith Richards house with blues playing in the background, but with balls! "- George,Taxi Violence
