By now you might have noticed that there are no new posts being posted on this blogspot.com website. This was our beginning with no idea what so ever that Small Town Music will grow into the beautiful (and influenced) company today.
The Small Town Music Blog
From music fans point of view about the music, musicians and parties in and around a small town of Nelspruit in Mpumalanga province. We also travel to music festivals around South Africa and Mozambique. Small Town Music Blog is about music, we don't mind, if it is good we will listen to it. ‘You make me feel like the man on the moon’ – 13in2013
By Marley
There are alot of Nelspartans that I don’t completely understand sometimes. Firstly, they are quick to complain that there is nothing to do. Secondly, yes, there is the rain factor – you can get around it, but then there is the realistic factor – that people simply don’t have money to spend anymore on things like a night out.

My Name - Blue Moon is turning 13

Lucky Lucy
By Marley
Winter got stuck in Cape Town and they had snow on Table
Mountain in case you missed it on social media. But in the Lowveld the sun
continued its promise of summer and she shined brightly over the last winter
weekend. Blue Moon's family picnic on Spring day was opened by one of the
brightest days we had in a very long time. All the fears of a cold front
disappeared the minute we opened our bedroom curtains.
I knew that the show would be a success because between
getting ready for a wedding, attending the wedding and trying to sleep off a
slight hangover on Sunday morning my phone did not stop ringing. I changed my
What’s Up message tone because that’s how many times my phone went off as well.
Rocking up at Blue Moon with my own personal body guard simply named Puppy I was immediately placed behind
the bar, my old spot. With a proper wine, Okibwa, sponsoring the day I got a
new shirt. I must say the wine is not a Nederburg or Fleur de Cap but does the
job and I'm sure they received a lot more fans.

What to expect at Earthdance Mpumalanga?
So you have never been to Earthdance Mpumalanga before? You are properly imagining a bunch of hippies who hugs trees, smoke a hubbly while saying things like "That's so rad man" and "We gotta save the earth man like it's got trees and weed" - well stereo type. Or you are thinking it's just one big ass rave like the sister events of Cape Town and Johannesburg, exclusive for those wearing funky colour vests, Puma sneakers and dancing to music with the same beat from the bg. Again stereo type but let me tell you it's nothing like that in fact Earthdance Mpumalanga is for everyone and anyone.
I think I can give an honest opinion here because for the past 5 years I've been attending Earthdance Mpumalanga. Earthdance might sound new to you but this event happens around the world more or less on the same day. "Earthdance is a world of communities, working and playing together to create a culture of peace, through music and dance events, synchronized global link-ups, and social activism. More than just an epic party, Earthdance is a flash forward to an alt peaceful future." - Earthdance website

Good Times Clothing – representing Mpumalanga

“The thing about hip-hop today is it's smart, it's insightful. The way they can communicate a complex message in a very short space is remarkable.” - Barack Obama
Nelsparta is not only rock ‘n roll, hippies and pop singers but also the cool catz of hip/hop and rap. We have a treasure chest yet to be truly discovered by the rest of the nation. The honest truth is that my knowledge of the genre is limited. But at least I know what the difference is between Jay Z and any other side cap wearing guy with a microphone. South African hip hop is actually different to the USA and I think we have given its own flavour. We have mixed up our languages, our musicians and I’m still waiting for the day that a hip hop song featuring Francios van Coke to hit our music players.
Hip Hop has been around for few years, you might remember those days when Shaggy was “Mister Boombastic” and the only thing cooler than LL Cool J was your Monster Hits tape collection. In dancing the format of hip hop is part of dance competitions along with the foxtrot and the rumba. But these days it has moved up, it got higher than just street credit. It has CEO’, MEC’s and the rest of the followers wearing grooving clothes, caps and no heavy jewellery.

Have I Told You? – Spring Family Day at Blue Moon
By Marley
“Spring is nature's
way of saying, 'Let's party!'” - Robin Williams
Living in the Lowveld has it benefits, and one of them being
our amazing weather. Winter 2013 was a pansy in comparison to last year‘s snowy,
windy winter. Blue Moon has announced that they will be hosting a Spring day family picnic, but get this: it’s at Blue Moon this time and in celebration of
Spring 2013!
